That will be the least of our problems though if our present owners are anything to go by.
A lot of teams down there struggling. Notts county goal difference might still have an impact on who goes down.
What have the current owners been doing?
Nothing. That's just it. It's a long story....
A recruitment firm from Essex took over a year or so ago with big promises.
Since then we find that we get regular winding up orders from the taxman which they always wait until the last minute to settle. The chairman - Gary Coxhall - borrows large sums of money which he says he is liable for but the agreements have appeared online and are quite clearly against the club. The loans are from Asset Management companies rather than the banks. When questioned about this he says that it would take too long to get finance from banks yet he was nit in a hurry for funds.
Coxhall was in partnership with an accountant called Peter Goldberg -a man with a dubious track record - this is traceable online. This man has since done a runner.
The original recruitment firm has gone bust and replaced by a company that owns the club but seems to have no other connection with anythingelse.
The owner has ambitions to buy our ground from the council. He also wants to improve it and build a new estate around it. As the area is pretty run down it would be like putting lipstick on a pig.
So the fans wonder why a small businessman from the other end of the country is interested in a constantly struggling lower league club.
This is only part of the story. Something stinks.
Do those loans come with a high level of interest and are issued by those who have a vested interest in Hartlepool?
Seems a couple of clubs in League One have relative short-term loans from random companies that come with high levels of interest. Having read how Bolton Wanderers have operated this season, a clubs revenue stream (Football League payments, Transfer Fees, Season Ticket revenue) could be used as security when these loans are issued and the interest payments are one way of making money.
