The last Test I remember him playing in England was during the series here against Australia when he was made captain, played like he didn't give a damn, and then retired between the two Tests. Complete insanity. Butt took over that (English) summer and the rest is in the court records.

If Afridi was ever a victim of Pakistan cricket in his early years, then he became a key figure in its madness in time. Compare with Misbah who seemed to be someone who managed to stand above the disrepute, and eventually drag his team with him.

Interesting.
Film of Test cricketers KS 'Ranji' Ranjitsinhji, CB Fry batting in 1901 restored for national archives

Fry's technique would not be approved of, even in the days of Steve Smith.

Afridi was fun to watch.

Talented. Barking mad , but never boring.

If he'd just played steady cricket he'd have put up decent figures ...but no-one would be bothered to post about his retirement on here. Takes all sorts...

Misbah bought stability to Pakistan cricket from a precarious position.

Afridi always bought instability.A man of controversies, be it fight with own team members, opponents, administrators, chucking, ball tampering. He just could not accept that out of form players need to be dropped. Had huge ego, retired when panel dropped him..not just once.

Lucky it was Pakistan. Other boards would have not tolerated such a cricketer.

Terrible! Maybe he was demonstrating how not to bat.

Interesting article by ex-ABC commentator Glen Mitchell on calling cricket in India. A nice read.

Great read.
2001 and 2004 were memorable series, hopefully 2017 will be as well, although the way series panning out it would be.

Sad to hear about James Taylor. Sounds like he's struggling.

For anyone that think lodha commitee stuff is a good thing for indian cricket or world cricket need to have a rethink.
http://www.firstpost.com/sports/ipl-10- ... 11126.html
like I said earlier the only people losing out on this would be the grass root, indian juniors and domestic players.
if lodha were so seen on helping indian cricket then they wouldn't be hampering or stopping grass root funding, cricket and fund for the domestic teams.

loads of free tickets were handed out for the bangladesh Test match in hyderbad wonder how many of them were actually used though.

11,500 per day of free tickets were given away to key sponsors, banks and VIP.

BCCI just got a bit more money now.
INR 1079 crore (approx USD 162 million) for shirt sponsership that is about $700 000 or just under £600,000 pounds per game. in Total received $162 M for the contract.
big increase from current sponsor Star.

India scheduled to play 14 homes series and 20 away series during the time.
"BCCI CEO Rahul Johri said the bid revealed the value of a partnership with the India team. "Star India gave us 203 crore (approx USD 30.5 million) in four years."

in total india will play 259 games in 5 yrs although could be more than that.
actually a high number that 60 games a year lol.

MCC approve changes to the laws

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/39194258

I heartily approve of the change that stops a player being given out for his bat bouncing up off the ground at the point the bails are removed, during an attempted run out, despite it being grounded a split second earlier. That was stupid and always felt wrong to me

how the excessive appealing aspect will be applied will be interesting

a bit of discussion going on about the bat sizes, personally i'm all for it, players should be rewarded for good shots which will still happen, they shouldn't be rewarded for mis-hits that go for boundaries because the sweet spots on the bat are so big
