Off to Dubai the back end of March for pre season training, so will probably play friendlies over there either against locals or other counties.

Last time, iirc some county (Yorkshire :?: ) sent team to West Indies. This time durham sending team to Dubai. Any particular reason the strategy o preparing teams fir better batting on spin friendly or slow wickets.

Pre season overseas tours always appear a bit excessive to me unless someone else is picking up the tab. Not sure the club have even mentioned it. Stokes said in an interview about what he was doing after this ODI series that he had a week off and was then joining up with Durham in Dubai for a few days before setting off for IPL.

I think it's more the case of getting some training outdoors. Durham in March isn't cricket weather!

2 day red ball game apparently. Each team batting 1 day weather permitting.

So that's at least one warmup game that the club don't seem aware of! Unless their reply to you referred only to home warmup games.
Seems a long way to travel for a practice match! Maybe they just fancied a trip to London.

We've played preseason in Kent a few times down the years iirc. It's reasonable logic that the further South you travel the better chance you have of having literally a warm up game as opposed to a thermals and wooly hat encounter at the Riverside.

Hadn't thought of the weather, you're right - better chance of play down there.

To be fair to Durham if they are going to try and play some outdoor cricket in the first week of April in this country theymay as well go down south. Surely more chance of getting some practice in than up north.
The incredible thing is a school can get their cricket pitch and net wickets up to a good enough standard in early April that they are safe for pros to use. I wonder what the fees are per term at that school.
