I had to whittle selection down from about a dozen bands.

There are some great songs from bands with a female singer. I'm interested to see the final list.

its a theme i liked as a couple of my favourite bands have female singers, but i think if i had a pick of just one song it wouldn't come from one of the bands who i prefer for their whole body of work

I had submitted right at the start - but had thought it was the band, not the song I had to name.

As Rich said, a stand out song may not make a standout band, and a body of work may be stronger than a band's best song.
