I'm perfectly fine with us being cautious against Overton (not that Rilee was!), as he is their only bowler who I rate/fear (on non-turning wickets). But to have only taken 12 off Groenewald's six overs, for example, is poor.

Unless of course the pink ball really is quite difficult to bat against.

I'm thinking it's more designed for poorer light, it's kind of got that florescent look to it. Maybe it's easier to bat against it with the sun in.

This is looking like another poor batting performance by the top order, a decent day at the Rosebowl and winning the toss.

Put it all onto the lower order again!

We were 294-3 at stumps vs Warks and the general feeling was we batted too slowly, today won't make people any happier

Anything under 300 in a day doesn't cut it anymore.

Doesn't bother me if we win the game like against Warks, today is like they don't know whether to stick or twist

The home grown players doing a lot better than the foreign imports so far today.

I see Holland won a TV cricket reality series in Oz to get a contract with Victoria!

We aren't going to end much better off than Durham, and they were 18/5 at one stage.

Probably get a few overs at Somerset before the close, hope the new pink ball will do strange things under the lights.

Will be laughable if we don't get a batting point.

Made it. Might as well declare and have 6 overs at Somerset.

And we have, good move.

6 overs for Berg and Abbott before the close.

At the start of that final over, I too called for us to declare at the end of it (subject to scoring that 200th run, as a minimum). But I wasn't necessarily expecting us to!

I'm trying to work out why Holland keeps on getting selected. Hopefully he proves me wrong during this match, but for a supposed all-rounder, I'm yet to see evidence that he can bat or bowl. Yes he has good figures with both for the 2nds, but the counts for very little in my book.

Already conceded as many extras as Somerset did.
