This is so weird. 8.30 in the evening, and tuning into a run/wicket chase. I very much suspect it will finish a draw, but you never know.

Comes down to how much Somerset want to continue going for it.

That's always the issue, you could say they owe it to our generous declaration to keep going.

8 an over needed, they'll shut up shop now, but we still have a shout.

Two short in the end.

Can't help thinking we fiddled about too much in our second innings earlier in the day.

Chase should have been more in the region I suggested last night, and we probably would have won.

Very different circumstances, but that's three out of three drawn home games now where we've not managed to bowl the opposition out of the last day.

Not criticising, just making an observation.

Valiant effort, only criticism I would have is giving Dawson 8 overs despite it apparently offering nothing to a spinner and only giving Holland 4 overs despite him taking 2 wickets in those 4 and him being chief destroyer in the 1st innings

Cheers DFM, Essex were able to get over the line but we weren't, so essentially a 22 point swing in their favour.

Or is that me being over optimistic of our chances of ever winning the title in the first place!

The forty year plus wait goes on, now Essex have a 2 win gap with only 6 games left.
