Didn't see the last ten overs or so but I thought Bavuma had played pretty well and not surprised de Bruyn was the one to fall late - a most welcome wicket for England ; and probably important as it means they can hope to get at de Kock early on day three (unless the night watchman plays a spoiling hand ) New ball available within the hour should give them a fair chance of getting among the tail and securing a decent lead.
As BFL points out , SA still have some batting , so England will need to be fully switched on from the start and not allow them to execute a similar escape to their own sixth wicket stand...de Kock and Bavuma surely have the capacity to emulate Root and Moeen ; though one difference is they will be coming together against rested bowlers rather than a group who have already been toiling for several hours of the day...
Thought Broad was truly excellent yesterday . Must admit I'd been a little concerned going in as he'd not been tearing down trees for Notts , and I wondered how fit he was - concerns answered emphatically ! Two miserly spells each with a wicket included and he always looked capable of doing further damage despite not getting a lot of help from the conditions - which seemed generally fairly easy for batting later in the day (as you'd expect on day two at Lord's).
Moeen got the really big wicket of the day - two really , as Elgar had been typically stubborn - and the way he got Amla suggested there might be a good deal of danger from spin as this match progresses. Might have to come mainly from him as Dawson has so far been disappointing. Maybe the skipper will turn his arm over at some stage...
Two days , fifteen wickets...given Lord's pitch can get very bland as it ages this match is not guaranteed to bring a result ; but England will be hopeful some early success on Saturday can put them in a very strong position. Certainly they're in a better place than the visitors at the moment due largely to their overall superior rate of scoring. Weather still set fair ?
Hope the umpires keep the game moving just to kill off the string of complaints about overrates clogging up this thread
