Obviously sport is not played on paper, but on paper you would say that Durham and Worcs won't be doing you a favour, but Notts will. Which would make it all come down to Lancs...

Sussex-Essex was just mentioned as the game picked by Sky tomorrow. I appreciate they need time to put plans in place etc, but with Kent beating Essex, suddenly Kent-Surrey is probably the biggest south group match tomorrow now. Or there was Lancs-Warks to pick.

Don't get me wrong, Sussex-Essex is still a huge game. But potentially both sides might still go out.

The winner of Kent-Surrey goes through, simple. The loser will be going home (or will need rain/a tie to save them) - either to the winner of the Sussex-Essex game, or to Middlesex or to Somerset.

There's also the incentive for Surrey to try and take a home QF away from either Glamorgan or Hants.

also pointless talking about records this and records that, because if the playing area has been hugely reduced (and the score suggests it has) then the records are irrelevant..... just bring the boundaries in another 10 metres and reset all those records again

Far from it - the outfield was almost as big as an England international with a relatively central wicket and no uneven boundaries. The wicket was that flat I would not have been surprised if it was prepared by the Highways Agency.

Northants batsmen struggled to hit the Yorkshire spinners out of the park, particularly Rafiq due to the boundary size. Yorkshire have big hitters in the team and raised their game in this format.

Phenomenal batting from Lyth and even Kohler-Cadmore looked dangerous until he got done by a ball that kept low a bit. During the carnage it was fun googling the highest T20 score, highest T20 innings and most runs conceded by a bowler in a T20 match, which Ben Sanderson (4-0-77-0) managed to achieve. Kleinveldt was rather crafty at the death, otherwise Yorkshire would have set a world record and Lyth may have got close to Chris Gayle's 175.

Expect they looked at Friday's forecast on the say they had to choose, then opted for the South Coast game that could be guaranteed to have something riding on it whatever happened on Thursday.
