England must be desperate for Wood to be fit for at least part of the Ashes. I reckon they would be delighted if they can have him fit for that first test at Brisbane and fit for Perth even if they rest him at Adelaide. After the Ashes it would not surprise me if he became a one day specialist "gun for hire" around the world.

Yeah, his chances of having a lengthy test career must be very small so he might have to go down the one day only route sooner rather than later.

WACA is on the Ashes schedule but I don't know if it's still the same type of pitch.

I think it is. It's going to be phased out for the new stadium but think it's still going to be used for this Ashes series.

Should be the last Ashes at the WACA. It'll be used still for internationals, but for games less likely to attract a big crowd.

Yep. Only hope is that anyone who wants to leave will have to tell Sir Ian! It really would be a farce if Coughlin triggered a release clause and joined the relegated Warwickshire.

Lewis was noncommittal about Onions , said something about being confident he'd do enough in the remaining games to justify a new deal but also that there's a need to look to the future.

Cameron Steel was there and he actually answered a question about the press stories about Coggers and Jennings being tapped up. He said nether of them were happy with The Times story & Jennings was annoyed by it and had said he's had no discussions with other clubs. Thing is though iirc The Times article did not say he had had any official approaches .

They seem keen to re-sign Latham next year if the NZ schedule allows it.

Burnham is not bowling in matches because he's had problems with his back and knee in the past so they're being careful with him. I think Lewis said he'll be stepping up on bowling practice over the winter so presumably that's a sign he'll be here next year.

Harker was there and got some stick from a member about his record - Harker said the problem was not generating enough income from international cricket to pay for the overheads. He also said the special salary cap applies for another two years but will have no negative impact - presumably he means we couldn't afford to spend more regardless of the cap.

Thanks for that capt- much appreciated. Loathsome Lizzie did suggest though that Keets would be looking to be playing in the 1st div next season. He hasn't got an agent and is Keets the sought of guy who's going to confide in a rookie reporter about his career? Thankfully we can put that to bed. Likewise with Coggers in all probability.
As for Latham iirc Kiwis only have a very short tour to Bangladesh next summer during our domestic T20.
Aussie ODI should be a guaranteed money spinner.

Thanks for that captain. Very interesting about Burnhams bowling, I have asked one or two people if due to the back injury he had he had been advised to stop bowling. The only info I had is that he still sometimes bowls in the warm up nets on a morning. Mind it is an awful long time since he bowled in a match even a club match.
As far as the out of contract players go i suppose it is a case of wait and see. That may be why no definite decision has been made on Bunny yet, if a couple of the seamers where to leave they may have to give him a contract even if ideally they would prefer to move on.

It might mean nothing but when Steel said Coggers & Jennings weren't happy about the press stories over their futures Lewis didn't say anything and the initial question was obviously directed at him. Maybe he's wary of saying anything after giving the impression last year that Rocky & Borthwick were going to stay!

I might be reading too much into it but I got the impression that JJ is annoyed with Onions for complaining in the press about not being offered a new deal.
