Seems that the 'pitch in line' rules are different than the 'hit wicket' rules. At least half the ball needs to be in line with the stumps.

Out, finally. A bit of luck goes England's way at last. Unfortunately, it's probably too little too late. Australia might be glad to get their collapse out of the way now, when it won't change the result.

Interesting that Joe Root's decision to bowl will be castigated long after this game is over, but Smith's decision not to enforce the follow-on, and to send in a nightwatchman at effectively 265-4 will probably escape scrutiny as Australia will still win. Going back in to bat with the ball hooping around looks more than a little silly, IMO.
