231/7. Seems that our bowlers could not maintain pressure of those 3 early wickets. South Africa are back in the match. Anything over 250 would be a task in itself for our batters as we are facing a quality bowling lineup and this will be our very first batting innings. I don't think SA would ask India to bowl again and risk another top order collapse. This was our best chance to make most of the blunder they made, but unfortunately our bowlers could not make most of it.

if they bat well they should be able to get a lead.
it should be noted pujara and kohli both got big hundreds last time out in SA and pace generally don't trouble them so not really sure where the believe india batting would fail without them even facing a ball is coming from especially when india bowlers have bowled well today and have SA 240/7 and yet you think india have given the game back to SA lol.

What windup ? I know since 1990's how many tests we have won in SA, England or Aus. It's pathetic performances although some flashes in brilliance. Azhar- Sachin partnership was brilliant in SA. Sreesanths spell too in SA. Agarkar42/7 in OZ in 2001. But we have mostly flopped in some countries. Some perspective will help.

the one that is insane is dhawan for rahul.
it is quite possible rahane is shot and low in confidence and didn't do well in the nets.
averages 25 odd in the last 14 test rahane.
so that decision is understandable.

When you have a team 12-3 who have philander coming in at 7 you have to be disappointed if they make more than 225

yeah give you that don't think the pace men bowl too many in the right area, will have to see if the score will be enough though.
think SA will be happy with the score though they would have taken it with the 3 or 5 early wickets.

not sure what your point is really.
in simple terms india never winnings a series in South africa doesn't mean in the future india will never win a test or series in SA.
likewise it doesn't mean india will always win series in india or Asia.
What ever happens in the past has no bearing in future results.

boom Ashwin takes a wicket.
think that wickets shows the difference of how a spinners becomes more effective when he has pace bowlers overseas.
Ashwin will average 18 for this innings, where as 4 yrs ago he was bowling far more overs and was the main bowler for india now he is an after thought.
makes a huge difference in the way the spinners bowls and batsman playing them.

I am predicting 1-1.

Drawn series is the best we have been capable of. An given the way this team batted last month being 28/7 that too against Lankan bowlers, its the worst Indian batting i have since since 1990.

Even today the position we had them 30/3 something, we have allowed them to make 284. So it's not that these youngsters are showing this is a better team than the past on tours. Flashes of brilliance either with bat or ball has been our problem overseas. Consistency is just not there to win series.
