Indeed. Bat for one more session, declare with a 480 lead at lunch. Five sessions to take 10 wickets, although there might be a little bit of rain around on Wednesday. Less than a 10% chance at present though.

forecast for us last Friday was 5% chance of rain, which when it started raining quickly changed to an 80% chance and the match was abandoned without a ball bowled, so be careful of forecast percentages.

Get 'em in as quick as ever you can... you probably have enough already, but make a quick dash for a 400 lead if it'd make you feel a bit happier

I don't think England will return to Vince so soon after dropping him, but if Bairstow can't make the next test, then picking someone who has just scored 150 and is averaging the best part of 60 this season in D1 to come in and play on their home ground must be worth a thought or two. From a quick scan of the run-scorers, Vince has taken advantage of Pope being with England to jump ahead of him into second place (behind Burns) as the division's leading run-scorer.

For us though, it would put Vince out of two Championship matches. Even with Donald coming in, that would still be a huge blow. Especially as matches against Essex and Worcs are both very winnable.

Angus Fraser, on Sky's The Verdict , said he thought Vince ( or Malan!) would be the favourite to replace Bairstow. Bob Willis said he'd choose Ian Bell as a short term replacement. It surely won't be Malan after Ed Smith' comments about his game being better suited to overseas, don't think he's scored many runs either for Middlesex.

Got a golden duck for them in their current match!

Which I guess must be his first red-ball "knock" since getting dropped. I'm not sure Smith could justify dropping someone, see them get a golden duck, and then off the back of that say "yep, here's your recall".

Personally though I'd select Moeen, because that then allows Curran to be recalled in place of Rashid.

That's what I'd do as well.

Fortunately, I don't think Smith has the same mind set as Fraser. I think the only change will be Burns for Jennings if he doesn't score big tomorrow

Yeah, Jennings in the firing line. Think he's looked OK some of the time but averaging under 20 since his recall and a horror shot in the first innings here must make him vulnerable unless he does redeem himself tomorrow.

5 for Malan in the second innings. 5 more than England's one day skipper!

It's not just his batting, his performance in the slips has been nothing short of embarrassing. If he isn't dropping straightforward forward chances, he's hopelessly diving at wide balls as they speed off to the third man boundary.

I seriously hope they leave Vince alone, we need him badly. He'll be purely a desperation move, and the pressure will be intense as the current England top order are bound to give him not alot for 3 to bat with.

Yes, I don't remember Jennjngs being a liability in the field at Durham but he's looked very jittery here - probably an overall lack of confidence.

I guess it doesn't help when all the slips have performed abysmally, Root, Cook, Buttler and Jennings have all been guilty of multiple howlers in this series.

And Stokes who is probably the best apparently doesn't like fielding there. I'd have thought he should be told to do it.

Possibility Roussow has done some serious damage to a finger fielding in the slips off Edwards

We could be short of Vince Roussow and Steyn for the next game.
