I thought we bowled pretty well ( McCarthy excepted - you were right about him DFM although it was usually two 4 balls an over this time ) without much luck but unless the edges dropped short there looked to be at least 3 drops and the easiest one was Wakely on 0.

MC Carthy does,at times, get hit around the park but He's a wicket taker. His strike rate is identical to Rushy! At present, selection is a straight choice between him and Rimmington. I rest my case!

Yes, he is a threat and the main problem today was another woeful batting performance. After that we needed everything to go in our favour and if the catches had been taken we might have restricted Northants to about 150.
Northants lost last week after enforcing the follow on and have had a tough season so if we can somehow put them under even a bit of pressure in the last innings they might capitulate. Trouble is though it's almost certainly going to be a 100 plus run defecit on first innings and that might be enough for an innings win!

It might not have made any difference given he has not been scoring big runs ( but neither has anyone else ) but Will Smith surely should have played. Steel has had a bit of a shocker this season after last years heroics and Harte & Clark at 3 and 4 won't work imo. It almost guarantees early wickets and then the middle order gets exposed to the new ball with predictable consequences. Colly is having a disastrous season but has credit in the back for his years of excellence. Smith must be the best option at 3.
Alex Lees already the one to pin all hopes on after two innings!

If it pans out as expected over the next three days ( or day!) I'm sure we'll get back to winning ways next week at Edgbaston. :scared

3 quick wickets for Rushworth. 9 down and the lead is 68, must not let the last two put on an annoying partnership.

Must be taking inspiration from our batting! That 69 run lead is more like 169 with our woeful batting lineup.

Given the runs he's scored agaist us in the past that's a relief.

With our lineup it'll be a miracle if we set anything remotely challenging - this could well be a 2 day finish.

4 down and still in arrears. :horse
If they're going to lose it might as well be a total capitulation because that will surely force some changes.

A quiet morning then with just 9 wickets falling. 77/5 at lunch. I just wonder now if a lead of 100 might be enough - we'll probably never know because the chances of getting another 95 are virtually nil unless Colly can remember how to bat.
