our innings lasted 31 overs, they are 8 down after 20

this must be the worst pitch of the season

time to send our groundsman back to wherever he came from. We will never again get promoted if we continually have to play on sh1t like the pitches of the last 2 or 3 years

of course they're making him wait.... obvious

Yep. Blue skies today and the batting side under no scoreboard pressure and they've struggled even more than our woeful lineup. It must be a terrible pitch.

No wonder we only have 2 home batting points. Combination of the uncontested toss rule and terrible batting pitches.
Right from the start when Markram - after scoring runs for fun against the Aussies - managed to record a pair inside a day!
Third innings of that game underway on the first day.

Lancs, of course, used the excuse of OT's development to play on crap pitches at their outgrounds and win the title for the first time in 70 odd years... playing on those pitches even after they'd played the big money T20 games at OT

Somerset are preparing filthy pitches because it suits their spinner and they are hoping it will help them to win their first ever title

Now I think what they did/are doing is abhorrent, but I can understand their motivation for doing it

what's ours?

the only thing I can think of is that our groundsman is on some sort of ECB bursary to help keep us down

Was there not some excuse years ago about the River having some sort of negative impact on the pitches that was impossible to negate? The funny thing is Vic Demain won an award last November -groundsman of the year!

1st innings scores this season

-v- Kent 91
-v- leics 184
-v- derby 96
-v- Warks 297 (batting second... and under lights)
-v- Northants 129
-v- sussex 103

average 150

batting first we average 120

not sure how we will ever get promotion averaging 120 first innings at home.... on the back foot for the entire season

can't all be bad batting, after all every dog has his day......... but we don't... not first innings and put in every time

the only reason I can think of why Warks batted first was probably because they figured if they skittled us like everyone else has, then they'd have to bat under lights with the ball hooping around all over the shop

Crazy!

And having such a torrid time at home must mean no one has the confidence or form to take full advantage when they find themselves on better pitches although they have done significantly better away ( relatively speaking ) with 11 batting points on the road.

No hat-trick for Rushy.
Scores level. Needless to say these last two wickets need to go very quickly.

9 down and an 8th wicket for Rushworth. Lead is 7.
No doubt the last pair will just try and hit out.

Lead of 7 on this surface might be the equivalent of the follow on on must decks...
