Bancroft can return on the 29th December. So theoretically, the NY Test, but more likely, the BB.

That India side looks too strong for the Aussie BB XI.

OK start for the BGs though. And Slapsie is in the middle.

Slapsie Maxie going at a 200 SR. Could get about 190 here.

Presume the outfield has been set for the under nines though.

The rain delay came at a bad time for Aus, they were looking like reaching 190ish.

India started well, but it's a reasonable challenge.

One of those times when D/L goes a counter intuitive result. Why do India need 16 more off their 17 overs than Australia did? I understand the argument about wickets in hand, but do you really pace yourself that differently over 17 overs compared to 20?

India on track at the half way point.

the wicket of Dharwan must give Aus the edge now.

although my livestream (pirated one) of the game is about as reliable as the Australian Cricket team of late.

Aussies triumph in the premier form of the game. Well done the BGs. More match winning bowling from Stoinis.

Aus get the series off to a good start

did Aus only losing 4 wickets in the first innings have any bearing on the DL target, or does that only apply to the chasing side?

It is reasonable for the chasing side to have to chase more in this situation, I think. Sometimes, in the past, DL has been heavily loaded in the chasing sides favour. Perhaps further work has been done to address this

It'll have an impact because Aus had power to add at the end which was unrealised. If they'd known they only had 17 overs, they would have gone harder earlier.

and while they had been going quite well the past 5 or so overs, they hadn't really 'gone off'. The last 3-4 overs were going to be that. They lost three of them, and had their flow severely interrupted in the truncated last over.

So, yes, Fluffy, I think they do/did. India should have had to score more than Aus - as to the 16 runs, that was more than I thought it was going to be, but who am I to argue when it supports my team?

I understand the reasoning. But 16 runs seemed quite a lot (nearly 2 overs worth) for three overs lost.

Australia squad has been announced:
Marcus Harris, Aaron Finch, Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Tim Paine, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon, Chris Tremain, Peter Siddle, Peter Handscomb

Harris has been rewarded for some good shield form. Tremain and Siddle are both a bit of a surprise - I know Siddle played in UAE, but having two quicks as cover for the main pace attack seems an odd choice. Maybe there are fitness concerns.
