When it was announced few months back i thought this meeting which was planned by administrators who wanted to meet Shastri and Virat mentioning that they will talk to both of them after they come back from overseas tour was just a formality to keep Indian fans and media quite after loss in SA and England. But the committee has actually taken Shastri and Virat to task.

The Committee of Administrators (COA) came down hard on Ravi Shastri at a recent meeting in Hyderabad and asked the India coach to let people be the judge on whether this team is the best travelling side in the world or not.

"Ravi initially started off by saying that the Indian media always criticises its own players and how this is one of the best ever teams in the last 15 years," an official present in the meeting told PTI.

"When Ravi went on about how great this current team is, one of the COA members just cut him short.

"The COA member told him, 'Let's stick to the agenda of the meeting and discuss Australia tour policies. You don't decide if the team is the best travelling side in the world. Let people be the judge'," the official said.

"One of the senior members attending the meeting told the Kohli-Shastri duo that there is nothing wrong if BCCI wants them to perform well overseas.

"The official told them, 'You have been given everything -- from hefty central contracts to practice facilities, support staff, whatever you guys have wanted, so it's only fair that your performances are put in perspective'."

Kohli also courted controversy on Wednesday when he asked fans who didn't like Indian players to leave the country in a promotional video.


"It was a very stupid comment to make. He should have been more careful. He must understand that the kind of money he is earning is because Indian fans have invested in this game.

Geez, what a weak bowling attack for the Australian XI. Four have never even played a first class match (one is an under 19 player who's never appeared for the senior A team, FFS), and of the two who have, they have 2 and 4 first class matches respectively. That's pathetic. Poor form by Cricket Australia. We keep banging on about high quality practice games (I do, anyway), but for all CA is on a publicity exercise, they're happy to be seen as playing the game of not allowing the opponents decent practice (presumably because nobody pays attention to tour matches any more...)

Some of the boards have to get together and agree to stop this practice of putting out massively substandard opposition for practice matches, for the good of the game.

Both are in horrible form. Hope they score runs in this series. Sanjay Bangar, the batting coach is showing his frustrations on Rahul's poor batting.

He does has a weakness to incoming deliveries. They have tried to work it out with specific practice sessions in nets. That isn't helping yet.

"He has been looking in good shape, including today, it is just that he is finding new ways to get out," Bangar said.

"Even today, the ball was quite far and he played it away from his body and lost his wicket. But what we are reading is, he is playing the ball well and he is one hit away. We know his ability and if he converts that to performances then it is important for the team," Bangar said.

"He is not a young player anymore and he is on his second tour here. He has played 30 Tests and he has a responsibility. We expect him to play with that responsibility and play his role for the team."
