Prithvi's injury is bad news for India - with the form of Rahul and Vijay it might have beenw orth having Shubman Gill or even Dhawan out there (even though he's had enough chances)

Well this is going astonishingly badly for India.

A guy that's never played a senior-level game of any sort (even T20) has taken 3 wickets and scored 86... The last four wickets added 300 runs from a bunch of bowlers most of whom have never batted in a senior game, or even played a first class match.

This is a bit embarrassing really. I can only hope that India are deliberately not trying too hard for some reason.

Never can tell with India in warm ups. At least they didn't cancel it.

Four have never even played a first class match (one is an under 19 player who's never appeared for the senior A team, FFS), and of the two who have, they have 2 and 4 first class matches respectively. That's pathetic. Poor form by Cricket Australia. We keep banging on about high quality practice games (I do, anyway), but for all CA is on a publicity exercise, they're happy to be seen as playing the game of not allowing the opponents decent practice (presumably because nobody pays attention to tour matches any more...)

Some of the boards have to get together and agree to stop this practice of putting out massively substandard opposition for practice matches, for the good of the game.

I'd say 40 overs for Ashwin was decent practice

Impressed with Hardie. 19 year old from Dorset. 4/50 (Kohli and Sharma) and 86 batting at 8.

Relatively bad performance with bat in first innings. 358 should not be the score against the opponents that were fielded. Australian 11 have easily outscored the Indian team by almost 200 runs in first innings. Wonderful batting by Team India in second innings to post 211/2.

Jas bowled only 1 over. But 2 specialist bowlers gave more than 100 runs against the weaker opposition batters. Third bowler leaked 97.

Asked for it not to count as f/C. But the day was lost to rain, not India.

this sort of thing bugs me - and it comes always from England fans.

I bet he doesn't have a Bournemouth accent. He may have been born in Bournemouth, but he is from WA.

I think England fans often feel the need to point this out because of the amount of stick the England team got for playing KP. So whenever there's a player playing in/for one country who was born in another, there's immediately a need to point it out.

Never understood it myself, including the KP thing. Who cares where a player was born? Surely if they've chosen to live in a country as an adult and pledged to that country, hold a citizenship/passport etc., that matters far more than where they were born (something you have no control over). But I'm an expat myself, so perhaps I have a different view from most.

Maybe Aussie fans fear the worst?

Feels like it should be a well balanced contest. India have the better side but the Aussies have home advantage.

Though that was true in England and India got well beaten.
