Batting consultant and assistant academy coach posts advertised.
Does the fact that the batting consultant is being advertised imply that high profile candidates e.g.Trott have already turned it down?

It could well do. Perhaps it's just a box-ticking exercise or they have someone in mind but want to have other options.
I know the transition from top player to top coach doesn't always happen but Trott certainly knows about scoring runs at the Riverside! He was in for hours and hours last year!

I know the transition from top player to top coach doesn't always happen but Trott certainly knows about scoring runs at the Riverside! He was in for hours and hours last year!

There are plenty of potential candidates using that criteria-Mal Loye, Nick Compton,Riki Wessels etc,etc,etcw :lmao

Suspect Trott has been approached and declined then one of our previous overseas Aussies would be my choice -given Benks or Sanga aren't available. Anyway, seems Craig White hasn't been lined up.

I agree, chances are North will have good contacts wirh former Aussie batsmen.
And you're righr abour the run scoring criteria- it'd be a lengthy list of success batsmen and sone of them would be tailenders who were transformed into Brian Lara when they played at the Riverside!

That's a prestigious job for him although I believe the politics of Sri Lankan cricket are rarely calm and serene! Good luck to him in his new role.

It does seem strange for a national team to rate him more highly than a second division county side! As you say Sanga must have had some input. The IPL will probably come calling next!

WL is right, of course. Now that Lewis has gone it is essential that his replacement is better than him, or else getting rid of him will prove to be a stupid idea

Well we didn't get rid off him,he walked out because he couldn't get his own way. The biggest inditement of JJ is ask any member of Durham what he was like and they say they didn't know -after 22years!

Sounds encouraging especially as his form with the Lions suggested he is back in form so there's evidence to back up the confidence.

Isn't he always working on a longer run up? He's a year off thirty. Maybe he could have sorted this out by now?

But still, good for him if he's improved his game.
