If we want to win the world cup you cant just have sloggers 1 to 7 50 overs is a long time and you need players who can hold the innings together to win consistently

Root aside, our "sloggers" have made 34 hundreds in a total of 75 matches played since the last world cup......

This sounds a lot like "we need an anchor" era England. That turned out to be a load of tripe. We have aggressive players now who can score big runs, so yes, I would trust the mathematical model over a vague idea that a slower batter somehow makes another player do better at the other end (when scoreboard, run rate pressure in a chase would probably do the opposite).
