Going well for Durham so far. Still, Durham seem to be quite familiar with a lower order bat turning things around.

256 is the target

not normally a daunting target, but more than they looked like they were going to get when the 6th wicket fell. 67 added in the final 8

Just arrived for the last few overs so can't tell if it's a tricky pitch but going by the card they made a very slow start despite not losing wickets so I guess either the bowling was too good...or they quickly worked out 250 might be a good score. Still, unless it's really tricky or Derbyshire bowl brilliantly there should be no excuses these days not to get those runs so I'm sure we'll knock them off with no alarms! :scared

A wobble towards the end but the game was just about wrapped up by then.
Almost every dismissal was a strange one- Steel run out when the ball must have just shaved the stumps and dislodged a bail, Bancroft departing with a glare at the umpire, Du Plooy dropping a dolly to reprieve Burnham and then came on to bowl, hurt his hand dropping a caught and bowled and had to go off only for Burnham to get out c&b to the replacement bowler.
Trevaskis then run out - and for most of the innings run out looked the most likely form of dismissal.

Richo stood firm again, and a 3rd consecutive 50 for Alex Lees.

Just as well that our top 6 are scoring runs, because our lower order look chaotic..........Keystone Cops ain't in it.

An excellent catch from Tom Lace to dismiss Burnham, btw. Top quality..... sometimes you just have to doff your cap in the face of brilliance.

Funnily enough we looked fine when we were patiently accumulating, but the minute anyone not called Richardson started to take the bowlers on they fell.

the dismissal of Steel was an odd one. The fielders all groaned at how close the shy at the stumps was, then they suddenly cheered and when I looked again a bail was on the floor. I reckon the ball blew it off as it went by, because it didn't look at any stage as though it had hit anything.

The first 3 shies at the stumps all hit. I have no idea why we continued to take really tight singles. It wasn't as if we were under much scoreboard pressure, because the asking rate never got above 6. Trevaskis tried to run himself out as soon as he arrived at the crease, then did a much better job of it two balls later.

Still..... 4 out of 5 is good going. We only won 2 in the whole comp last year. Lancs next at South North, and then 668 said the Notts game is at Grantham, so that'll all be interesting. Might level things up a bit. Normally I'd have both Lancs and Notts chalked up as a loss

It's very encouraging with 10 of the squad Academy graduates and, apart from Richo, all in their mid-twenties or younger. And if Stokes and Wood weren't on England duty we'd have a whole team of Academy graduates. FTECB

I believe they have been made available for the Notts and Yorks games, but don't quote me on that. Although Stokesy would need to do a bit more with the bat for us than he has for Rajasthan.

I wasn't certain, but I think Stokesy was down having a net this afternoon. Looked like him, but he was helmeted up

Well if they're available so,presumably, will be Root and Bairstow. Could be tasty.

Yep! Steel very impressive as opener and Burnham with a fine innings after the captain was given out, I was fearing the worst at that stage with lots of runs still needed. Very promising signs too from the bowlers.

certainly a good confidence boosting competition for our boys, this time around.

better than last year where we got flogged in the CC and then flogged again in the one day cup. only the T20 cup saved our blushes last year
