Cricinfo report mentions that a defeat would make it a fifth successive Championship defeat. Gloucs at home next week, they're not very good but I think we're worse so it'll probably be 6 from 6 unless it rains a lot or Bangers scores about 400 runs.

Wow. I didn't know that, just goes to show how bad things are . Some disastrous seasons in the first decade or so for Durham and yet this will be the worst start we've ever had.

Surely I'm not the only one who assumed that our international opener (former, of course) would open for us. He came in today in the fourth over, and in the first innings it was the second over (against Sussex he came in the ninth and the first over respectively), so he might as well be opening where hopefully he can blunt the opposition attack instead of inspiring them with 3 cheap wickets every innings.

although perhaps his batting at 3 could be construed as a statement of intent. If he was thinking about working towards a possible Australia recall later in the year, he'd surely want to press his case by opening for us. There are other Aussies around county cricket atm batting at 3

He dropped Whitely when he'd scored about 5 and he went on to get 72 in a century partnership.
