they are too busy cutting and pasting the crapinfo report which is, of course, compiled in Mumbai based almost entirely on the scorecard and sent via a conferencing app to a London studio

And they call it progress!

pfft

Yes, the coverage of the county game in the print media has fallen off a cliff. Tim Wellock and Stuart Rayner no longer writing about Durham is a real shame.

Weather forecast looks ok for tonight. Might be a good size crowd in for the defeat by game against Lancashire.

Bumper crowd expected according to club website so presumably advance sales are good. Durham game plan with bigger boundaries makes for a far better game imo.Makes ground fielding, running between wickets throwing more important rather than games being decided on which side mishits most sixes.

hoping for a good game tonight, but I'm not expecting to win, so a win would be real bonus

I expect to see more of Handscomb tonight.

How long is Steel out for, I wonder? I don't believe for a moment that he was rested on Wednesday night.... must have picked up some sort of injury

I don't expect a win either unless Short gets going again.
Not sure what's wrong with Steel but, as you say , he must be injured - think he was second in the list of leading run scorers after the first 3 games.

No Onions so far in this campaign for Lancs, and no return for them from Jennings, so that feels positive for us

Maxwell and Faulkner, though, that's a different story

Yeah. Those two could cause carnage. And if Livingstone or Davies get going... :scared
That Lancs side has a lot of players who could be dangerous to say the least and the chances of all of them failing seem slim. On the plus side our home T20 form has been excellent in recent times...although that might mean we're due to have a bad game.

And then there's Vilas. He's on the list of players who always score runs against us.

Martin Emmerson mentions Lancashire have won more T20 games against Durham than any other team. And those 20(!) wins include the last 6 at the Riverside. Had a bit of a batting collapse in the one last year - 78 all out.

Steel has a "slight back strain" according to Marty in his preview of the Leics game. Not taking any risks with him because they plan opening with him in the CC?

Sounds likely to me. Cameron Steel seems to be sidelined so S Steel should get a chance in the 4 day games.
He probably hurt his back hitting all of those boundaries at Grace Road!

77/4 at the half way stage. Short out earlier just as he looked set for another big score.
Even worse news is that the boundaries seem to be coming fairly regularly so I think we'll need to set a bigger score than is usually competitive here.
Clark looked good again but couldn't kick on.

It's going wrong. 113/6 with just under 4 overs left.
Going to have to hope Lancashire have a shocker with the bat but all of those quality batsmen surely won't have a collective disaster!
