it's very odd really.... I'm utterly convinced that promotion for us would be a very bad thing in terms of player development, and yet...... and yet....... it would be very nice to stick up two fingers at FTECB, and It might strengthen our arm for winter recruitment. We know we have money to spend right now, but that might not be enough to tempt players into coming to us on 3 year deals. Promotion might be the thing that swings some of these potential dealings

Our recent recruitment has been excellent and shrewd e.g. Lees, Eckersley,Salisbury who were all judged surplus to their counties -possibly Robson also. We're an improving team e.g. Carse, S.Steel, Potts, and C.Steel looks to have regained form. Uniquely 3 go up this season- you don't look gift horses in the mouth.

Brydon Carse, a zippy fast bowler with a fast arm action, impressed at both ends of a 2016 summer that also saw him succumb to injury in mid-season. He made his first-class debut against Durham MCCU and finished with 17 wickets in eight matches. Carse was born in South Africa, but he is entitled to an ancestry visa because one of his grandparents was born in Britain and plays for a Durham as a Kolpak signing. His first appearance in the north-east was for Burnmoor in the Durham League in 2014.
So given the new eligibility rules, when will be qualify for England? I know he's spent the last few winters in England- Rushy has even converted him into a SAFC supporter!

Yeah. At that time it was impossible to see where a win would come from. Or a draw.
