Just like for India, the new ball makes the pitch look helpful, but this ball stops misbehaving very quickly after around 10 overs. You get about 5 overs where the ball really bounces and seams, bit of swing, then it just seems to stop. I wonder if Kohli and the boys knew this ball behaves like this when they took Sharma off despite the breakthrough after the 6th over.

Root for me has to turn to Leach and Archer. Archer with a bit of pace might hurry the bat and get some bounce, but really Leach has to get England back in this

Broad getting the odd ball to loop or seam, but not at great pace off the pitch. Gill seems to have settled and got behind it, and Sharma has been commfortable and crashed two wonderful drives to the bad balls that came.

Well after the first test I asked how did England get reverse and stated something suspicious about it considering the Indias didnt....

England just been caught putting saliva on the ball. Ball disinfected. Stokes the offending party and the team have received a warning.

Maybe we can close the case on that now.

Well Archer draws the mistake. Very poor shot from Shubman Gill, its a short ball he can easily get out the way off, but instead he decides to try and fish that ball from outside offstump with a sort of baseball shot. England wont care, but Gill never looked totally comfortable. Not really convinced with Gill so far
