Worst batting performance in India ever. Second least balls survived since 1900s turned. There can be no excuses nor any sympathy. England arent capable not only of scoring runs, but of defending their wickets.

Thats just not poor English batting. Pink ball, pitch or what ever, there is more than one reason for this.

Sharma scored near 100 runs on his own. I guess quality bats make runs in difficult conditions, crap ones fold like chocolate fireguards.

India win by 10 wickets. 49/0 from 7.4 overs puts the pitch etc into context. Some of the batting from both teams has been pretty poor and has made it look even more difficult than it was

Wonder how England will respond to that regarding selection. Have to bring Bess in. A case for one of the reserve leggies too. We don't know if Anderson will play back to back. Pope might be vulnerable. Broad will go.

There is no reason why any of the pacers should be rested, they've barely bowled an over. And Bess remains a problem because they've told us he's not good enough, which I think is the reason they tactically got this match wrong with three seamers (which made zero difference with such a terrible batting performance anyway).

Do England have batting stocks to go to? Lawrence is there, as is Burns, both have been dropped after not looking comfortable at all. I think England are locked into picking 3 seamers or 2 spinners and the batting wont change

Maybe the T20 team will be arriving in time for test 4 consideration

Aside for one good year when England toured SA in about 15/16, Bairstow's performance has declined through average, to ever failing. He's been average most of his career and has yet played 72 tests, and in more recent years hes been flat out useless. Why is he here with two other keepers playing? And his record exposed to the new ball is terrible too.

I think I'll go back to the top six that will play after this series, bring in Woakes to extend the batting and take the new ball in the first innings. Bess has to return.

I can't see that - I think they want someone with pace so I don't think that leaves any space for Woakes in asian conditions. It could be that team with either Archer, Stone or Wood in place of Woakes.
