The BBC said at the weekend Aussies in India have to spend 10 days in another country before being allowed to come to OZ. Huge penalties are in place, I think if memory serves a prison sentence of 5 years was the maximum for breaching it, but I might be confusing it.

I guess they will probably all end up somewhere like Dubai for a quick holiday in those mega resorts and then saunter back.

I cant see why it would be racist. Pretty much every country in Europe is blocking travel like this, Belgium has about 45 countries you cant enter from.

They have made it a criminal offence with up to 5 years in Prison if you travel from India. They did not have those laws for any other country when the virus was running rampant in the EU or the USA. If i attempted to get in from Sweden and made it into Australia, i would not face the same criminal repercussions as those traveling from India.

This policy is aimed at Australian citizens with Indian heritage. The fact that some cricketers are now caught up in it will be interesting to see how the government acts. A goverment locking up its own citizens for travelling from one specific country....

Should have called IPL off weeks ago.

The Australian government has backed down and said no one will be jailed for travel.

But there will be one hell of an outcry if they let cricketers back in while there is still a ban on other Australians travelling from India.

It was bad enough they were letting cricketers and especially commentators in from overseas while most non-citizens are banned from entry altogether.
