If only we'd either scored more than 99 in the first innings or broken that 6th wicket stand earlier yesterday afternoon. I think they were about 150 in front when the 5th wicket went down so without that partnership the target would have been very gettable.

Apparently Burnham's lbw dismissal is a record breaker - the 19th of the match and a record in English cricket.
The World record is 20 so is surely going to be broken.

Why not? Extraordinary number of lbws in our first innings.

Perhaps the ball kept staying low, or the umpires were just sticking up the finger. As I said the other day, the Bancroft dismissal was probably guesswork, given that he was hit on the pad amid a flurry of activity and someone who was watching the live feed told me the Burnham lbw looked as though it was going down leg all day long.

Personally I think that if you bowl as well and as tightly as the Essex bowlers did, then you are always likely to get the rewards that good bowling deserves

I was going to say that with 5 overs to go at least we were going to take the match into the final day, but perhaps we can't be bothered with that because we have just lost 2 more in 3 balls. with 4 overs to go they only need 2 more wickets before heading off down the motorway

A hammering but again we had chances to at least make a game of it. Pepper the only one on either side to shine in the first innings so I think the key to it was the 100 run 6th wicket stand yesterday.
Very unfortunate that Jones got what seems to have been a poor decision after playing nicely.

I thought Jones had been clean bowled in the first innings, but seemingly that was lbw too

In 11 days the dribble,to plagiarize D/F terminology,commences. Plenty pushing of ticket sales on the club website but complete silence on any specialist signing, nor have I heard any whispers/rumours of such. No mention even of a specialist coach.
Clearly the club must feel we have sufficient improvised batting and variety of bowling in house to compete in the Blast. Wonder where they are?
Coggers and Carse bowling in the power play? Badger providing pace off the ball?
Spectators are discouraged from bringing hand luggage but advised to wear safety helmets.
