Poor performance again. A good score but should have been better and then some poor bowling at crucial times. Emmerson said it's the 3rd week in a row that the team at the bottom of the table have won against us.
It is a bit of a farce with so many players unavailable but we should have won this one.

We had 5 key players unavailable,3 playing for England. We haven't strength in depth, those sanctions have long term consequences.

Getting darker in Pelton, I decided to watch Wimbledon instead.
There was a delay in the morning session when the ball got lost under a stand.
I was a bit surprised we chose to bowl but have a chance at 4 down to make major inroads if the weather doesn't intervene.
If it's dry tomorrow I'll pop down for the afternoon session.

Things were looking up at 171-5, but of course Mullaney and Patterson White (as they did at TB) are now building a sizeable stand. Currently 215-5

remember we have to match Notts bonus point for bonus point, so if they can pick up an extra BP or two only 8 down, then they can declare and royally shaft us, forcing us to get the extra batting point

I have no doubt that we can beat Notts at home, but I have a feeling those two lost points for slow bowling in the last game will come back and haunt us even if we do

and the trouble with having Borthwick as the spin option to play the over rate catch up game means that the other side can flog him to all parts, especially with these tiny boundaries, meaning they get free runs and we don't get to catch up the overs because we spend too much time retrieving the ball that's been hammered to the boundary

Lest we forget.... we chose to have tiny boundaries and we chose to bowl as well, which suggests we knew that the only way to get the job done was to bowl Notts out cheaply and then try and rack up a big first innings total..... when you win the toss and choose to bowl, then you have to be confident of bowling them out in 2 sessions or thereabouts.... certainly without getting to the new ball........... and we haven't done that

not even close to doing that... only 5 down with the new ball available in 7 overs
