Hardly a surprise if you note my previous comment. Enough evidence that neither have the concentration/desire to adapt to test match batting. Foakes and Pope deserve as many opportunities as those two.

Still not many posts = England still winning.

Miracles happen - Headingley is a venue for them, and no-one ever wrote India off after Kolkata in 2001. But surely England will wrap this up by the end of Saturday?

Just a little unfair to put the two JB's efforts in a basket , I think...

Bairstow will undoubtedly be disappointed he didn't turn his good start into something more imposing : but a fluent 29 in a quite rapid 50 partnership with Root isn't a total fail. Jos on the other hand did not ever look settled and gave his wicket away rather tamely. Bit of a difference. And not unexpected given Jonny has played pretty well in all his innings this summer without yet going on to a big score while Jos has looked rather consistently out of touch .

Agreed both need to get some serious runs (not that anyone else bar Root has been doing so !) Same could be said for Moeen who really did throw his hand away...though he might have a bit to do with the ball shortly...

Anyway I am not too bothered about the "mini collapse" : experience says some players won't get going even in big scoring innings - and Overton and Curran added a burst later. If they needed a five hundred it will be a bowling fail...

Overton gone this morning so 350 odd lead will be it. Should be plenty .
