It's just as well he's not playing! Been busy so not followed the play closely but - even with a fightback - it appears to have been even worse than last week, at least against Notts there was the excuse that we were up against a formidable attack. 70 odd for 6 at lunch after choosing to bat against a makeshift attack tells a grim story.
And Trevaskis leading a recovery suggests to me it's a good pitch and batting was the right call.
I suppose we'll have to reserve full judgement until Sussex have had a bat.

Over 100 runs in the session for one wicket despite being 6 down at lunch! Great recovery but to be able to score freely from such a perilous position must mean it's either a good pitch, very poor attack- or more likely both.
Makes the earlier collapse inexplicable and inexcusable!

Need Stokes and Carse back ASAP. Stokes was expected to play next week but whether having media duties will push the return back a week remains to be seen

I wonder how many overs Rushy has bowled since he last got a wicket? None last week and if I remember rightly only 1 or 2 the week before!

I feared I might come in from work and find Sussex 80-0, so the only surprising thing was finding that we had actually taken a wicket

Only the 4 overs for Rushy and no maidens in that either. In previous years if he wasn't taking wickets he was at least building pressure by giving nothing away
