Durham match thread 2022

Turner having a good debut so far. We've seen some disasters over the years with defeat snatched from the jaws of victory so we need to maintain this pressure.

Turner having a good debut so far.

without having seen the game, having only followed it on the scorecard, he seems to have captained the side well. He brought on borthwick with the batmen still fidddling around and so he ended up using a couple of overs without too much damage (I'm assuming his wicket was caought on the deep fine leg boundary or similar), when Trev started to take a bit of tap after a period of spin only, I wanted him to bring a seamer on to shake things up a bit and he did that immediately. With 2 tailenders at the crease on nought, I wanted him to bring on Carse to give him a target to aim at after getting tanked by Patel earlier and try to clean up the tail.... and he did that too

All round good captaincy, plus runs, plus a catch, plus a wicket and decent economy, so it was a great start for the new skip

Yes, he seemed to be responding to the situation instead of captaincy by numbers. Might turn out to be a shrewd signing- we needed a big hitter in the middle overs and slow bowling usually very effective in T20.

Dicko could be the big hitter. I seem to remember he's played well for us in T20 in the past

Raine's an odd one. Sometimes he fiddles about for ages then gets out and sometimes he just explodes and batters the ball to all parts. He's one who needs a bit more consistency.

It'll be interesting to see if last night's performance was a one off for Coughlin

Raine has just been ordered out of the attack for bowling 3 no balls in the over. There's no sound, so I can't tell wether he's overstepping or not, but I suspect it's because he's bowled 3 head high slow ball bouncers

127-0 and we're only half way through the 12th over...... although we've bowled enough balls to take up the full 20 over complement

I suppose what makes things worse about the Raine thing is that Turner had to finish his over off, so now can't bowl his full complement himself

that means we have to let Borthwick bowl yet another over

If Captain Ashtain didn't know what he's let himself in for before, he blooming well does now
