Yes, there's no logic to it. Typical ECB!

That possibility can't be ruled out. It makes no sense to have such a gap.

I think he was due to play the CC match at the weekend. These untimely injuries/departures are really exposing the lack of depth in the squad, it needs to be addressed during the winter and we'll probably need a couple of loan signings to get through this season!
We couldn't have forseen Potts getting the England call but Lees was clearly in the frame as was Carse. We had to make loan signings last year so why the squad wasn't strengthened is another mystery to me!

Nathan Sowter in on loan for the rest of The Blast- Borthwick the latest injury. If SB is out of the 4 day game it will be an 'interesting' batting lineup especially if Dickson is still out.

Or "wrist injury" could be a diplomatic synonym for "dropped".

just spotted this

presumably this means the penny has dropped and Borthwick is being consigned to the T20 bin. It'll be interesting to see if he's 'recovered' in time for the two July CC matches

Do we know anything about Sowter? Presumably there's a reason why MIddlesex don't play him, but he surely has to be less of a liability than Mr 0-96

I see that Sowter is available for the next couple of CC matches too, if we want a leggie to play. Not sure we do, really, but then again Trev could probably play as an authentic all rounder the way his batting has come on this season and we have problems bowling out tails...... so maybe

He looks to have a good T20 record but Middlesex coach said they're planning for the future! Sounds as if his days there are over.

are we meant to have Nic Maddinson playing for us at some point, or did I just make that up?

I have it in the back of my mind, but haven't found anything to back it up, so I might have just dreamt it. He's out in SL with Aus A atm

There was an article where he said he expected to join us after the Australia A tour - and I think that tour finishes around the end of the month - but the deal hadn't been formalised. So I guess it soon will be or there has been a change of plan.
I think we need to bring in another batsman on loan in additio, even if Borthwick has nothing more than a niggle and Dickson will be back soon ( don't know if he is ) , we're still down to the bare bones.

Maddinson played for Australia today in ODI. Scored 8. No confirmation from club 're signing but club don't until it's finally signed off by ECB.
