well.... on a 4th day pitch where we've struggled to take even two wickets in two previous matches, we managed to just about sneak out a draw 7 down and indebted to an 18 year old and a 19 year old on their debuts for keeping their heads

And the youngsters on debut again holding their nerve. Some bizarre dismissals- a slig sweep and run out in the over before tea!
Seems to me that Derbyshire didn't think 10 wickets was possible on the last day so batted us out of the game- I thought they'd have wanted more overs with the new ball at the end. It's just as well they were overly cautious!

Obviously didn't realise how hapless we are nowadays.
Difference between the two teams was the discipline of their middle order compared to the lack of concentration in ours.

I'd be interested to know what insurance cover the club had in place for yesterday. Is it for any sort of abandonment, for an adverse weather event or simply for rain?

There was something in the Times live coverage about this. They decided , mid-afternoon, that abandoning the game wouldn't have any advantages because everyone would be leaving the ground- to get to cars, buses etc - at the same time in peak temperatures, whereas by continuing with the game the spectators had access to water with medical help available.
I imagine there was a steady stream of people leaving throughout the afternoon so the strategy probably made sense. Certainly a memorable occasion but a forgettable game.

Yes. I was surprised when he was left out of the last two ODIs then found out he had a bruised toe.

Derbys are 14-4 against Worcs. Doubtless this is where du Plooy adds 300 runs with any old player who can be bothered to block for a few hours...... or is that just against our attack?

No bazball yet! Obviously good to set a platform but the potential downside is if they can't rake advantage. Unless conditions are totally different to previous games a very big first innings total is required.
