they must have found some money down the back of the sofa to pay his contract. Rodgers won't be out of work long. He can take his several million pounds severance money, have a nice holiday somewhere exotic and start for his next club in the summer

12 PL managers have had the heave ho this season and 7 of the bottom 9 clubs have changed their manager......... some more than once.

Feels a bit harsh on Potter, given that the owners have just gone out and splurged millions of pounds on hundreds of players seemingly without any consultation and almost totally at random, then expected him to make a team out of them immediately

still...... never feel sorry for a manager. He'll have had a big pay day today and might well be manager of Leicester by the end of the week

having now seen all the highlight packages, Newcastle clearly battered Man Utd.

22 shots (again) for the 2 goals, but only half a dozen were on target. It always amazes me how close to goal Newcastle players can be and still not hit it. That they create so many shooting opportunities is joyous though. The pace that they play at is astonishing. Fitness levels must be really high to keep that up for the 90 (I noticed Howe say "for the full 95" in his match preview, so the full amount of extra time penny seems to have dropped)

Longstaff was outstanding again. He's had a terrific season

Fernandes irritates the hell out of me. First he appeals for a pen with no contact made, then when both ref and VAR turn it down he runs around screaming and shouting at the officials. He's a petulant toad. He did, though, get his own back on Schar later in the game by trying to kick his face off as he ran in for a header by the Man Utd goal post. Captaincy material? Don't make me laugh

Very tight for the CL places. Man Utd looked a dead cert a few weeks ago but are tiring on the last straight. Of course plenty of time for form to change.

Similar near the bottom. Trying to guess who's going down is tough. I'm hoping Southampton stay up but I reckon they'll fall along with Bournemouth and ?

I might be wrong, but I think it was Wesley Fofana a few years ago that asked the keeper from the opposition if he could hold up taking a free-kick while he took a short pause to get a drink and a quick snack after sunset. The opposition and referee complied to his request, and since then I think there is an understanding if it is requested by a player, the referee has to stop the game once to allow them to do it.

Been a big argument in France about this, because the Nantes manager dropped one of his muslim players during Ramadan, saying that not eating or drinking means he cannot perform to a top level..... which has made a lot of people angry. My guess would be that it would certainly effect your energy levels and fitness not to have potentially drunk for nearly 24 hours, then have a high level of application, but maybe thats wrong.
