 no

the reason I ask is that the new stadium is still in the area of the old one, so although it's called the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, or something, it might still be on White Hart Lane..... but I don't actually know

Yeah it was built right behind the old stadium. I've driven past a couple of times and being so close to the road, looks mighty impressive. The big stand behind the goal especially.

I am more inclined to ask why the player is going to an official at the conculsion of the half, and seemingly physically barging into him while shouting in his face. I take it the FA will be giving Robertson a ban like Mitrovic?

:lmao Yeah as if.... Robertson plays for LIverpool, not Fulham

I don't think Robertson barged into the lino? Of course Robertson is not entirely innocent but the lino elbowed him. He should and imo will receive a ban.

Yeah, can remember them building the new ground around WHL while it was still operational, and by the end of that final season, they were partially knocking out sections of the ground to make space for the new construction. I think I read somewhere that some of the concrete structures fromt he old ground were built into the new stadium, both to save money and materials, but also as a symbol of the old ground being part of the new one.

I have only seen it once, from afar....(from the Underground between Walthamstow and Tottenham Hale).... stands out a fair bit.

Taking the BBC report on the matter...

Robertson approached the official angrily at the end of the first half against Arsenal and appeared to shove him as he passed

Which is what I see. Robertson goes up to him screaming and pointing, the linesman wants none of it and attempts to walk on, Robertson sort of leans his upper body in to block his path and makes contact with the linesman's arm/sort of barges into him from the side, and then the linesman responds by trying to free his arm and shrug the player away, and catches him in the face. As far as I am concerned, walking up and shoving an official in an aggressive manner is a red card, and the FA recently set a precedent that touching the referee in a violent or aggressive manner is an 8 game ban..... Robertson should be banned for 8 games, regardless of what happened after. The fact I am 100% sure he wont will just be another example of one rule for top clubs, another for bottom clubs.

As for the elbow, we seem to expect officials in sport to have deity like emotional restraint. Players get to spend 90 minutes bawling at them, and then when one player goes out their way to be physically aggressive after the final whistle to end play has gone by, expect them to walk on or not protect themselves. I feel for the linesman in this instance. He has done nothing to create or put himself in this situation, he was doing his job, and for that a player decided it was worthy of abuse. Said player then cops what is an accidental elbow in the face from someone attempting to defend themselves after being physically accosted, and the suggestion is that it costs the official his career? The player created this issue. It was him who walked over.

Imagine if this was a bar on a Saturday night. Someone walks 30 meters over to you f-ing and blinding, and when they get there, shoves you in the side..... I can tell you right now, I am not waiting to find out whether or not that person wants to headbutt me, I am going to defend myself, and I have every legal and moral right to use reasonable and non-excessive force to do that. I cant see what the difference is here. The linesman is just trying to shrug Robertson off and continue to walk away.

He has every right to do that. IF Robertson gets hurt in the process, then maybe he should think about the actions that lead to that occurring.... actions that were malintentioned, and idiotic. To have the audacity to b*tch like a toddler about it after what he did just shows how entitled he is. I agree with Roy Keane, the guy is a little whining baby.....

I was reading about a 12 match ban for a referee who kneed a player in the bollox recently. Might have been south America, but not sure

I've seen the linesman incident now and it looks to me as if the lino is trying to keep the player away. He didn't appear to be looking at Robertson when he pushed his arm out. He definitely catches the player, though.

There does seem to be a heightened tension and frustration around Liverpool FC this season, which I put down to them underperforming. It starts with the manager and percolates through the squad. I say this season, but maybe it's always been there and I just haven't noticed it before. Maybe they've been so used to winning lots of matches in recent seasons and now that things are not going their way so much, they're always looking for someone else to blame

no action to be taken against the linesman over the Robertson incident

nor should there be, imo. A situation blown up out of all proportion. Somewhere under all this there is an agenda to be found, I think... I just don't know what that agenda is

ouch!

Newcastle dismantled at Villa Pk

I watched the Villa game last week and watched them struggle to put away a poor Forest side, with both their goals coming from dreadful Forest mistakes, and I felt Newcastle had a decent chance of winning this game, despite Villa being on a winning run as good as Newcastle's

how wrong I was

Can't afford to lose to Spurs next week

as I'm sure Aidan is only too aware of, Hartlepool are a goal down to Crawley Town.

Despite all the permutaions possible at the back end of any football season, this one is very simple.... if Hartlepool don't beat Crawley today they will drop out of the football league as sure as eggs is eggs
