well.... the first disappointing session of the match

We were very loose right from the word go today. Untidy bowling from both Raine and Potts meant Lamb, in particular, had time to get his eye in. Nothing changed when Carse and Coggers came on and Parky was pretty poor really. I mentioned his no ball, but I have a feeling he bowled one last night as well, which if I'm right is extraordinarily poor from a spinner.

lead is down to 60 odd and with the new ball still about 20 overs away, we could be looking at a deficit by the time it comes along unless we can do something straight after the luch break.

Not quite sure where this has come from, tbh. There was nothing there for the batters, leaden skies and floodies on for the entire session


and it was utterly lethargic too. We can't have been anywhere near our overs for the session. We slowed it down by having helmets constantly being brought on and off. There was a long delay for the ball change and then Reece decided he wanted the sightscreen moving, for reasons no-one knows, but it meant the groundstaff had to be summoned from their hut, the tractor had to be brought out and taken round to shift it. Took about 10 mins. All just a bit off...... as if no-one could quite be bothered to take charge of the session

Raine breaks the partnership by trapping Lamb in front on 99 and then Matty Potts took over and ran through the tail in quick order for an innings and 7 run victory

Just need to keep everyone fit and hope that England ssip off and leave our players alone

Not sure the Parkinson experiment was much of a success, but then I'm comparing it to the Kuhnemann experiment, which might not be very fair

just noticed that Potts didn't bowl a single maiden in the game despite taking 8 wickets.

Obviously Durham don't need to look out for other results, but a couple of draws elsewhere won't do any harm.

Graham Clark is proving his worth in the side at short leg. He has 8 catches for the season now and I imagine most of them came in that position which is a good skill to have. His batting has been steady without making a statement innings..... only two failures with scores of 39, 47 and 48 and he's contributed to some vital partnerships

I wasn't sure at the start of the season, but he absolutely hasn't been a disaster

Gloucestershire collapsing- Sussex need 11 wickets on the last day.
Great win today. I couldn't go in the morning and was hoping there'd be resistance...naturally the wickets started tumbling as soon as I set off and it was over before I got there.
Still think these over rate penalties need looking at, seems ridiculous to lose a point after winning inside 3 days.
Parkinson might just be rusty, it'll be interesting to see what happens with the spinning slot - Kuhnemann confirmed as being out for the season.
Clark has certainly played his part in the field and in 3 very useful first innings partnerships but I'm still not convinced he is a red ball batter - but the coaches seem to know what they're doing ( for once ) so I may be proven wrong again
