Was trying to work out if that was a reference to James Weighall, the (former) Durham bowler. But James Whale had stopped directing the series by SOF anyway.

Not a big fan of SOF, but Halliwell doesn't throw his stars around, so he obviously thinks highly of it.

He seems to have a soft spot for the Universal horror films!

de Leede not playing for the Netherlands today so perhaps he will be available for the Gloucestershire game after all.

odd decision

then again, the primary target for NL was WC qualification and they've achieved that

Yes, that must be it because he's in our squad. So too are Pretorius. Potts and Carse. Might be worth delaying Carse's return for a week or giving Pretorius an extra week to acclimatise. Or maybe de Leede could have a break!
We've gone from desperately looking for short term signings to plug the gap to potentially having to leave out an international!

Suppose it could be the old squad rotation and leave out Raine but I can't see that happening- aside from being harsh it'd be a big risk - Carse and/or Pretorius could take a while to (re)settle and de Leede -:for all his qualities- is not exactly the sort of bowler likely to keep things tight if either of those two have an off game. That's assuming Bedingham is fully fit after the finger injury.

Remember it's the 2nd game with the Kookabera ball so that might influence selection. I'd go therefore I'd go for the extra pace of Carse rather than DeLeede but I doubt Campbel will heed my advice.
Strong squad anyway just hope the weather holds to gain a positive result.
Couple of wins in the run in should ensure promotion. With such a strong batting line up I can't see us losing many,if any, matches.

I'd forgotten about the ball, in that case I'd also go with Carse.
Agree. A couple of wins should do it and unless there's a sudden form collapse we should pick up plenty of bonus points in any draws.

Carse playing with de Leede missing out. Looks like a formidable attack - seems like a batting morning though and we've lost the toss.

Excellent batting conditions but thought we'd have made more of an impact. If the weather forecasts are right it's definitely a bad toss to lose because the best batting conditions look like being the first couple of sessions.

2nd wicket just before lunch. Good thing is they haven't got off to a flying start so a couple of wickets after lunch should put them on the back foot...famous last words.

3 games in progress in division 2 - Sussex 150/0 and Yorkshire 132/0 so 94/2 looks decent in comparison.
