Annoying partnership here, going to have to bat again...and a few ominous looking clouds around.

Good bowling change - Raine back on and gets a wicket. Lead is 23 so barring any disasters...

Excellent performance to get that done and dusted today. Never really in doubt after the first spell from Potts but in times past the alarm bells would have started ringing during those lower partnerships- not today though, no hint of the wheels coming off.

best side we've had since 2013. Who'd have thought we could lose Rushy and it not matter one bit?

I reckon Derbys have done us a big favour today. I can't see Sussex setting competitive targets for a while. Having sh1t themselves today they'll probably settle for draws until they find the second promotion place slipping away

Agreed. If a side that hasn't won a game could almost pull off a remarkable chase it's likely to make Sussex take a cautious approach from now on.

It's looking as though bowling first was a mistake - Madsen set and du Plooy still to come.

yes... a slow day today. We weren't able to do a lot with either new ball (perhaps they've forgotten how to bowl with a Dukes ball), but Capt Beaky taking 2 wickets with pies says everything about the game. For once duPlooy didn't hurt us (thanks to the pieman), but Guest was his usual irritating self. He wasn't able to d much up here, but he's back into his old 'only scores against Durham' ways with 145* He only had about 350 runs in his 13 innings before today and that included a century against some other unfortunate team earlier in the season. Derbys have managed to stonewall their way to 2 batting points, but with just the 14 overs left they might well only get 3 in total. Hopefully we'll turn up and knock them over quickly in the morning

Stonking stumping by Robbo today to gift Borthwick a wicket. He rapped the ball onto Haider Ali's legs outside off and appealed loudly (more in hope than expectation). Ali knew he wasn't out and moved forward a couple of feet to see if there was a sneaky run on offer, but Robbo was quick to pick up the ball where it had landed outside leg and broke the stumps as Ali was trying to turn back. It was very fine work and showed his quality with the gloves. Quick thinking. Of course it occurs to me that if he'd been Carey, Ali had been Bairstow and this had been OT, then the press would probably be busy pillorying him right now for cheating by being alert and punishing a piece of dozy cricket from the batter

Maybe next time I'm down, I should ask him if he'd do that again :facepalm give him a chance to apologise :stupid and pillory him again when he doesn't :panic British press...... :gun
