and, of course teams almost always lose the second of these matches, so it's also nice that on none of the 4 occasions that we have to play back to back matches are we playing the home fixture on the first night, making winning half of the home games really difficult just because of the way they are scheduled

but then we usually lose anyway, so maybe that was factored in by those clever people at the ECB

ah well.... people won't have had the crushed out of them by Friday. Given that 3 of the first 4 matches are away fixtures (and all are back to back's), I'd imagine that by the next home game, any massed crowds will already be waiting for next year

Yes, I'm not expecting a successful campaign. A few fresh faces so maybe a chance for improvement but we are reliably hopeless in this format.
I see Jones is available for the opener, not sure if that means he's also available on Friday. Probably not.

I wonder if Stokes will play. I'm assuming not, but then his batting looks like it needs some practice... a chance to free his arms perhaps? He hasn't got anything else on and he didn't look like a man who was still building his fitness up and could do with a little rest
