It was called off at 2.15pm local time after a 10.30am scheduled start, which was the cutoff for a 5 over game under the ICC regulations. And given the delay was due to the failure of the outfield to dry all day, then it started raining again before the decision to abandon, there couldn't have been any play even if they allowed all day. They're saying that even if there's not another drop of rain it's looking dicey for the outfield drying in time for tomorrow's game.

If the sun came out five minutes after abandonment you might have a point, but I think in the circumstances accusations of bias are drawing a pretty long bow. Abandonment was the only reasonable decision.

It is very unfortunate the weather had the final say, but Pakistan can hardly feel aggrieved. They lost 2 games, the USA lost one. And there was no guarantee Ireland beat USA in any event.

Understandable that they do. Part of the reasoning to locate some of this world cup there.

South Africa looking like they are going to lose against Nepal . Really struggling here.

It won't affect South Africa's qualification, but would be pretty embarrassing.

34 off 42 needed for Nepal with 8 wickets in hand. Surely Nepal's to lose from here. Would be their first ever win in any format against a test nation.

South Africa hold on by one run. That was a fine death bowling performance from them - as I said, their experience showed. Feel bad for Nepal - so close, and a couple of those deliveries towards the end were so close to being wide.

My best friend, a Trinidadian who's been living in Florida for 36 years, works a short drive from Lauderhill. He said the rain they've had this week is the worst he's ever seen!

True that Pakistan is in a mess and shouldn't feel aggrieved. They have been playing like they have not deserved to progress. USA has played better cricket than Pakistan and they could have won the last match too against Ireland and hence that result too may not have gone the way Pakistan relied upon. USA beat Pakistan and troubled India as well to an extent. Surely they were better of the minnow nations.

Lost to Zimbabwe, Ireland, USA and a NZ C team when NZ players were playing in IPL. Clearly there track record coming into series was marked by losing to minnows and C level team of a major cricketing team.

Apart from that the PCB chairman had changed, Babar was dropped from captaincy and Shaheen was made captain. After one month, Shaheen got dropped and Babar came back as captain.

Then i think they called back Imad Wasim who had retired, didn't he? Shadab Khan another favorite of Babar Azam made back in team and for someone whose main skill is spinner did not get to bowl in the matches. Azam Khan and Usman Khan struggled and found that there is huge gap in quality of opponents as far as PSL and T20i cup is compared. There are groups in the team and reminded of the fight between Waqar and Wasim group during those years. Even Iftikhar got picked in the 11. This was a very bad team. It is abject failure of the whole cricketing system.

Everything about Pakistan cricket leading to WC was a mess and their selections and results too were horrible as a consequence of instability in everything related to their cricket.
