Salmond's tendency to meet logic with aggression, mockery and dishonesty would have been legendary even in a recent Tory Party that excelled in it. He was nothing but a charlatan, riding on a nationalist cause for his whole career, and doing so by simply lying about things, and then trying to firebomb anyone out of a discussion who held him to account. I don't think he really cared about Scotland, it was just a vessel for his Titanic ego.

I don't have a single good word to say about him. I dont think I ever seen him discuss a single topic with any sort of competency.

I guess you could credit him with being ahead of his time.... because nationalist/populist who talks nothing but dross is now so en vogue.

He and Pru are pictured on the wall of the local Amdram I go to, so I guess he started out there.

More of a name in tv and stage, so not that well known to me. I think Edward VII is the role I link him with.
