Is there not a danger for Pope if he does well at 6, that he then loses his place in the side completely when Smith returns?

It probably helps him keep his place for this series at least. I have no idea what his keeping has been like

He looked much more comfortable at 6, away from the new ball

Not surprisingly really as he doesn't have the game or temperament of a number 3

Surely nothing more demoralising for a team than paying for dropped catches. Not even run outs are worse.

Or more likely, Woakes and Atkinson.

Match winning lead for England, even batting last.

Brook's third Test ton of the year. But 171 is no big deal given he made a Test triple only last month. It's not even his best score in NZ!
