Well done Afghanistan! Held it together at the end. Tough on Honest Joe, though.

Its disappointing, because its so predictable. The ECB have made choices that brought us to this point - limited ODs scheduled, a B-team 50 over competition, picking players who have no pedigree in the format. I hoped McCullum would shake everything up this year, but we stuck with Buttler as captain, we stuck with the same formula, and we get the same result.

My frustration makes me want to go to town on the players, but can we really fault them for not being at the top of their game when they play so little OD cricket now? All comes back to the 100 doesnt it? That giant turd of a competition that the ECB have put everything to the side to accommodate.

We waited decades for England to be actually good in this format, win a world cup, and then decide why bother.... like I said, its just disappointing. We proved in the 2010s that we can produce world leading attacking players that can dominate this format.

And yet, 5 years on, we are a mid-rate team at best.

Give Rehan/Banton/Mahmood a game in the last round. Not as if they have anything to lose.

I'd consider chucking harry brook up the order to open for the last game

Might suit him better than having to start against spin in the middle overs. Something that is becoming increasingly obvious he's not very good at.

Indeed

And now they've sold off a load of the teams to investors from abroad it won't be going anywhere

The counties also won't let them remove the T20 blast

So 50 over cricket is effectively dead in England

England got exactly what the ECB deserved

no wins in this comp

only beat WI, USA, Namibia and Oman in last year's T20 WC

only beat Bangladesh, Pakistan and Holland in the 50 over WC 2 years ago

It's been a very grim read since the ECB threw everything away in the pursuit of the dollar.... £CB!

At least we are doing well in the WTC

Oh wait...

I just hope these white ball tours don't harm brook, Atkinson and carse

Been a pretty chastening experience for them in india and in this

Confidence will be low right now. They need some runs and wickets before India come over

at least people will know that I was right about Carse. He's done okay stepping up a level in red ball, but while he's occasionally good he's usually a liability in white ball
