Even with an Aussie under-19 attack, they probably wont get the standard of middle overs play England trotted out.

Can't see it myself, but would like to see Afghanistan spring another shock

Remember that Afghanistan were only the one Glenn Maxwell mistake from beating Aus handily, and knocking them out of the world cup.

Ah, what great memories that brings back...

Even on a used slower pitch what sort of score do we think they need? Still 300? Or with their quality of spinners maybe 275ish?.

Must be a lot of humidity in the air, because you don't see the ball swinging around like this in ODIs a lot.

Ball is hooping around and doing all sorts....they need another swing bowler OZ...what they would give for a cam green or a Mitch marsh in these conditions instead of the part time spin option! Anyone know what Webster is like in white ball cricket? Maybe an option moving forward...always need 5 genuine options I believe in white ball

Afghanistan versus Australia reminds of two great matches in World cup in ODI and T20 World Cup. Maxwell's 200 at Mumbai in 2023 ODI WC which Australia won and Gulbadin's spell which helped Afghanistan win in 2024 T20 World Cup.
Test FL's - 8 , ODI and Tests Combo FL's - 1, ODI World Cup - 1, ODI FL's - 7, ODI and T20i combo FL's - 1 ,
T20 Franchisee FL's - 7, T20i Cup FL's- 1, T20 FL's- 5 , 50 Overs Domestic FL's - 1, 40 Overs Domestic FL's- 1

A bit steady-as-you-go for Afghanistan, but not a bad start. For all the swing, it's spin that gets the second wicket. If it's an old wicket, presume we'll see a lot of spin from now on.

Shahidi is content at the moment with just hanging in there. Australia arent throwing up pies for Afghanistan to get back into this like England.

The conditions are tougher, but at some point in the next 5 overs one of these two needs to start to push on

and they continue to fight their way through this innings.

Some wayward Aus bowling is aiding their cause, but Afg are making a pretty good fight of this. 2 overs to go, 2 wickets in hand, 254 on the board. I think that Afghanistan would be fairly pleased so far.
