Yes, I left before the close and the batters looked fairly comfortable. We need at least a couple of wickets in the first hour tomorrow.

I decided earlier, before the 4th innings began, that we needed to take at least 2 tonight and at least 2 very early in the morning to win this game. Sadly we haven't taken the 2 tonight and Hoggy has gone for a fair few in the context of the game. We have no back up seam bowler to change anything and no spinner to try and tie up an end, so I think we are going to need a lot of things to go our way tomorrow to win this game. Going to be very windy too tomorrow, which I think perhaps helps the batter more than the bowler. I'm not sanguine about this at all.... I hope I'm wrong (I've been wrong about many things recently with Newcastle, Palace and Sunderland), but I think inexperience might prove our undoing tomorrow. To end up with one bowler aged over 20 defending a modest target is less than ideal

One thing is for sure...... a win tomorrow would be a terrific learning experience for Minto, Killeen and Hogg. It would set us up very nicely in the table and cement a top 5 position at the half way point.

There was a bit of an altercation in the crowd when the final whistle went at Wembley! Sunderland fan celebrating and an aggressive response from someone in response - lots of shouting. Could see the Somerset boundary fielder laughing...but Minto was out to the next ball. Probably just a coincidence but was annoying because, again, he looked good.
He also took a blow on his head which is presumably why he didn't open the bowling.

I agree with you, really inexperienced attack and not many runs to defend so it's going to be difficult. If the morning session doesn't go our way it'll be game over probably but if it does end up being a close finish it'll he a real test for the youngsters.

Easy win for Somerset in the end

Got to wonder where our bowling depth is. We know Potts and Carse are under England control. We were left with almost nothing to defend 265 once Yusuf had to be withdrawn. It's healthy having a decent bunch of youngsters available for selection, but to end up with 3 in the side at the same time suggests we maybe screwed up this week. It isn't long since we brought in Ball and Blatherwick on loan to cover for injuries and for England, arguably with bowling stocks in a healthier place than for this week. Did we try this time, or did we think we had enough? Once Yusuf went off we were screwed. If bowling was that much of an issue why was Rhodes not in the side, or at least the squad. Is he injured too? I keep feeling as if I've overlooked someone. Carse was never going to feature much and Connors has been injured throughout. The resting of Potts for 2 games shouldn't put us in this situation.

we decided against playing a spinner this week, yet we did for a green top last week

We surely must be looking at why we appear to have had so few bowling options at times throughout this season and what can be done to avoid it in the future

and as seems to be the scheduling norm, we go into our first T20 match cold against a team who've already played and had a chance to warm up

only us and Glamorgan get to do that. Everyone else goes in cold for a first match against another team going in cold

double header on Sunday. women at 1pm and the men at 5pm. I go away for a few days the day after, so we'll have to see if I get a pass from Mrs DF

Poor in the end. Agree about the bowling depth ( or lack of it ), we have the first choice attack, some very promising youngsters and nothing really in-between. It's asking for trouble when 2 of the senior ones are certain to be in England squads ( Woody too when fit but we wouldn't expect to have him.)
I still think that target should have been challenging despite the enforced change, ball had dominated throughout and the scores were getting lower. In the end though another 200 runs might not have been enough!
