Maybe in high temperature, write an extra break each session into the schedule.

On the other hand, in such conditions, the teams could pick sides which might realistically bowl the overs. So an extra spinner.

Stokes should never bowl more than 12 overs a day. If he is, it means the other bowlers aren't doing their job very well

of course they are going to spend 2 days flogging themselves to death in blistering heat and when it's India's turn to bowl, the temps will have dropped markedly

the wrong choice at the toss will decide this game. It's India's to lose

As I said earlier, I liked the thought behind putting India in. One opener has a poor record away, debutant at 3, new captain at 4 who also has been bang average in away tests, guy who aint playd a test in 9 years at 6..... I like the approach of laying down the challenge at India. To win the series, they have to bat a hell of a lot better than they have away recently.... ask them straight away, are you up for it?

Turns out they are, seemingly.

On the above point as well, a couple of interesting stats from comms - No Asian player has ever scored a century in Leeds as an opener. And this was the first time since 1993 and Sourav Ganguly's debut that a team put a debutant at one drop. I can't be bothered to fact check that, because I find that extremely hard to believe, but don't blame me.... blame TMS.

I guess people (I included) mentioning the weather a lot today, but 28-29-30 degrees is hardly abnormal or extreme considering how much these teams regularly play in tropical weather.

The IPL final was 38 degrees at night..... Still jumper weather for the Indian boys.

Risbah Pant :lmao

Last over of the day, man back for the shot, Pant burns the coaching manual and jumps down the pitch and baseball bats it into the stand.
