The men have gone from 33 -0 after 3 overs to 98/5 after 14! That's more like it.
Women doing much better at present- Hampshire 76/6 after 15. Phoebe Turner took 3 wickets in an over.

4 in a row is a step too far, so I didn't have much hope for the men tonight.... just as well really. Anyway when we lost to Worcs after winning 3 in a row, we bounced back in a destruction of yorks

A good win for the women. Very good win. It looks as though there are bonus points in this comp too and I assume tonight's win was where the 19th point came from

up to 6th for the women and I think there's a game against Essex still to play, so..... maybe a mid table finish is possible despite having, what turned out to be, one of the two worst tier 1 sides

Yes, was a tricky start. Bates looked fluent and I actually feared the worst when she got out even though it was a modest target.

I keep seeing stuff about Lauren Filer wanting to be the first woman to bowl at 80mph

2 things occur to me....... firstly, focus on the speed gun risks spoiling fast bowlers, because they can end up spraying it everywhere to the point where the speed becomes moot anyway, and secondly it would be nice if she was actually doing some bowling for Durham. I think she's bowled for us 4 times this season, only one of which was at CLS. 12 overs in the T20 and 4 in the T20 cup.... 16 overs and 2 wickets in total

Women won a tight game against Lancashire but again made hard work chasing a modest target.
A predictable defeat for the men - didn't score enough runs but with Lancashire 129/7 chasing 155 halfway through the 17th over ... and then winning with an over to spare was a poor ending.
Probably won't matter because - even if we make it through- I have no confidence in progressing any further!

No.... we've run out of road at exactly the wrong time. With the north group being so tight, we can fall far and do it fast. 1 win separates the top 4 and 1 win separates 4th from 5th, 6th and 7th, so we pretty much have to win both matches to avoid either missing out completely or facing a trip to Powerhouse Surrey at the Oval......... and we know how that scenario goes

the women, on the other hand.... from no hopers to unbeaten in the last 4.... at pretty much the same time that the men's form went the other way

anyway.... Surrey are next for the women, so that run will come to an abrupt end

Think the women still have issues with the batting but the bowling has significantly improved. They have restricted the opposition to modest totals but the problem might be if/when they need to chase 150 plus.

And the Leicestershire/Surrey games are on tv - that usually spells disaster!

I'll be there on Tuesday, so that won't help. I probably won't be at the women's match, but then at 2.30 on a Tuesday not in the holidays, nobody else will be either

it occurs to me that our women's uptick in form might very well have coincided with other counties being shorn of their England players for the India T20 series. That might help us against Surrey, but then they don't seem to have lost any potency whilst the international matches have been on

Would be a special win if we can defeat Surrey. Probably would need Suzie Bates to make a big score to have a chance.

looking at the weather forecast, there's a chance we might walk away with a couple of points this afternoon

Evening forecast looks a little better. BBC are forecasting thunderstorms for this evening, but I've lost count of the number of times this summer they've said that and it hasn't materialised. my phone app suggests that it will be dry this evening but rainy this afternoon
