Arguably his creation of the Sundance film festival is his biggest impact on cinema.

His autobiography sold over a million copies. Which is incredible.

He looked about 70 back in the 80's. I think he played Cricket with Boycott and Michael Parkinson in his younger days. Whether he was a good umpire or not, I can't really remember but he took no rubbish from players and spectators, who would be moving behind the bowlers arm.

He was a good umpire and very fair at a time that was assumed standard with UK umpires, but not really the case. I didn't feel engaged by the cult of his personality, but as he was an umpire, that was the main thing.

I used to see him quite often, once upon a time. He always seemed to attend the Durham Yorkshire CC matches and would stay in the Travel Lodge at Chester Moor. I would see him walking along the cycle/footpath next to the dual carriageway on his way to the ground.

Players seemed to hold him in high regard as an umpire. He seemed to have a natural authority that players responded to. Whether his decisions would have stood up to modern day scrutiny, I have no idea, but he leaves us with a professional reputation other umpires would be very happy to have

One of those big European stars of the post war era who seemed to bring a lot of glamour and sex appeal to the screen in a time of austerity, which UK actors didn't really have.

CC combines the classical beauty of the studio era with the sex appeal of the permissive society. So she's Gene Tierney while also being Bardot.

Her big one for me is Once Upon a Time in the West. But The Leopard is an arthouse classic.

You may have seen The Professionals, with Burt Lancaster, Robert Ryan, Woody Strode and Lee Marvin.
