a true outstanding beauty

I watched Once Upon a Time in the West fairly recently, for the first time, actually. I remember you saying some years ago that you consider it the best western made.

That's my pick. Surely the most influential. The critics usually go for The Searchers...

Recorded with Kate Bush, Nick Drake and David Sylvian in my sphere of favourites. Very individual style.

Saw Pentangle on tv recently. More jazzy than I was expecting.

Yes he recorded with a lot of people - far too many to list all of them.... But I rather assumed you'd pick up on Nick Drake , Arthur.

Patricia Routledge, 96

Will presumably be remembered mostly for Hyacinth Bucket, but I particularly like to remember her from the Talking Heads series. She had 3 roles in that, if the pilot is included, and it's easy to see why Bennett kept going back to her

Diane Keaton aged 79. The best comedy actors all performed in the 1930s. But she was the best of all the others. Won her Oscar for Annie Hall.

It didn't occur to me that she might be 79, but then having acted in the Godfather alongside 189 year old Pacino, she clearly had to be.

The BBC haven't noticed yet... presumably still trying to create some Strictly/Traitors news (preferably a former strictly contestant now on traitors) and have taken their eye off the ball.... although they have noticed that Liam gallagher has become a grandad for the first time

I choose not to celebrate Woody Allen's work, because I think there is pertinent questions about his conduct over the years. Keaton was arguably his biggest celebrity ally, and her defence of Allen lead her into making some offensive remarks during the me too allegations, going as far as to say bad things happen, people needed to "get over it"....

I couldn't think of anything more tone deaf to say. Nothing quite encapsulates the mind of the boomer generation quite like vocally attacking victim culture, at the same town as downplaying violent sexual assault....

Prunella Scales aged 93. Immortal (sort of) as Sybil Fawlty of course, but interesting to spot in films going back to the 50s.

I think it was only a couple of months ago her husband Timothy West died also. Often happens when one side goes, the other follows quick.

and a different sort of couple died within a short while of each other - Terrence Stamp and Samantha Eggar...
