McGrath back to playing as a batter only today... ridiculous depth with her in at number 7...India will do well to keep Australia under 300...

I wonder who moves the ball more....thakur or schutt.....both incredibly skilful with that new ball....thakur hasn't made a breakthrough will that be the difference....expect schutt to make inroads early when Australia have the ball

Is there a better left hander in the women's game to watch than Litchfield? Yes Mooney is a run machine but Litchfield s cover driving and general offside play is a sight to behold! She is ridiculously good

After making the final of the T20 WC, and then beating Australia handily, to then beat England so convincingly to at least make the final of the OD WC is a huge result for them. Of course I want Aus to win today and beat SA in the final, but it will be a huge result for women's cricket globally if SA get up again.

They were quite some distance away in 4th place in the 2022-25 cycle, so I think for this format you have Australia.... then India/England... then South Africa some distance behind, then everyone else.

SA have only ever won one match vs the Aussies in this format, and it was one of those D/L hatchet jobs where Australia were left having to score more than SA managed in the same overs....

Reckon it is still :

Australia....Daylight....England/India/SA ...the rest at the moment. SA the big gainer lately and NZ have rather dropped away.

I am not as down on England as some - despite the horrible conclusion to their campaign (for which I am blaming in order of importance : The innings of the WC from Wolvaardt ; Smith and Dean going a bit off the boil after good group stage efforts ; the - with perfect hindsight - wrong choice at the toss ; and of course the recognised frailty of the batting after the top four.)

I do think they have made some progress since Charlotte took over - the fielding has improved a lot for one thing. Despite the usual vitriol being thrown on BBC comments I think it is unreasonable to expect her to have worked miracles in 6 months ; but I expect her to be looking forward with the introduction of a few new players now : this WC was not the time to throw complete newcomers in at the deep end. Perhaps the biggest problem she has is that none of the younger bats seem to be making any progress so it will be important for Knight etc to stick around while some who can fill the middle order void establish themselves. And as the gap between the top sides and the lesser is rather large it is often difficult to assess the value of performances other than against Australia/India ...

As for today looks as if Australia are on the way to a big total : India won't be getting near it so a SA-Australia final seems a fair conclusion to what has been a quite entertaining WC.

I get where you are coming from, but South African Woman's cricket is in a different planet to England in terms of player earnings, professionalism, access to coaching/facilities. It's a bit like saying you can't expect a Liverpool manager to beat Wolves regularly given a transfer budget of 2 billion quid and only 6 months.... well yeah, you really can expect it because the relative setups are just not comparable.
